RTC Strike | Hyderabad, June 27 (Namaste Telangana): There are signs of another strike in the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC). It is reliable information that the RTC employees, who have taken up movements on wages, job security and labor issues in the past. The leaders of the labor unions and the employees are having intense secret discussions on this issue. RTC employees have long been sought to be recognized as government employees and the promise to fully merge the organization with the government should be implemented.
Sources of labor unions say that as the government has not yet taken a clear decision in this regard, their dissatisfaction is increasing. In addition to this, as Minister Ponnam said that it is imperative that employee representatives participate in the merger process and that it is imperative that the recognition union elections be held before this, suspicions are being raised that the government is trying to become a government. After the government unilaterally decided to go for the election of the recognition committee in the RTC, the conflict between the workers and unions started.
Currently, it is known that various trade unions are holding meetings with their members. It is reliable information that the majority of employees and RTC workers are of the opinion that they will have to go on strike if no clear announcement is received from the government on the appointed day. It is known that secret discussions are going on on the possibility of announcing a joint action by all the associations. Although there is no official decision on the date of the strike so far, it is reported that the trade unions are also considering the possibility of going on an indefinite strike for the appointed day by taking up phased agitations if necessary. They are demanding that the RTC should be fully merged with the government and employees should be given the status of government employees, wages, retirement benefits and other service benefits. In this order, they went on strike last April. Although there was a clear promise from the government, today there is a serious delay in implementing it.
The government wants to go to the elections first
The government, which had promised to take up the RTC merger, has now decided to hold elections first. All the RTC labor unions requested the government to announce the appointed day first and then start the election process. However, the labor unions do not like the government’s insistence on going for elections. The TJMU leaders went on hunger strike against the election decision. Many have prepared for relay hunger strikes. However, the workers are angry that the government is not holding back. Due to this, the internal discussions of the labor unions have picked up speed. Once again there is a strike atmosphere in RTC. Sensing this issue, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar hastily released a statement from his office on Saturday. In this order, will the government call for early discussions and solve the problem? Or will trade unions go on strike? It will be revealed soon.
