Hyderabad, June 17 (Namaste Telangana): Reducing the number of Sarkar schools in the state to 4000 will have many negative consequences. The fate of government teachers is going to be questionable. There is a risk of VRS giving too many teachers. There is a possibility of converting surplus teachers as clerks in the name of adjustment. Meanwhile, the leaders of teachers’ unions are expressing concern that there is no such thing as government school in more than 10,000 gram panchayats of the state, and there are many such inefficiencies. 1.1 lakh teachers are working in 27 thousand government schools in the state. We have one teacher for every 12 students. At the same national level, there is one teacher for every 24 students.
CM Revanth Reddy has said many times that even with so many teachers, the expected results are not coming. With the closure of 23 thousand schools, teachers have to be adjusted in more than four thousand schools. That means there will be 27 teachers in each school. Actually 15-18 teachers are enough for a high school. Teachers unions say that there will be a surplus of around 30 thousand teachers. Concern is being expressed that there is a danger of adjusting these teachers in other departments. It is said that they are not surprised if teachers are converted into clerks. It doesn’t stop there. Efforts have been made to integrate Inter into school education. In the same order, if INTER starts in 4000 schools, Sarkar Junior Colleges will be disabled.
More than 6 thousand junior lecturers are working in these colleges. There are situations where their jobs can be affected. A teacher who did not want to be named said that they did not expect such a situation. Currently there are 13 thousand gram panchayats in the state. If the number of schools is limited to 4,000, there will be no real schools in more than 10,000 villages. This increases the dropout rate and increases the number of illiterates. With the closure of government schools, the demand will increase. Then private and corporate schools enter the arena. Experts in the field of education are expressing their concern that looking at the government’s affairs as a whole, it seems like a red carpet is being rolled out for private and corporate schools.
To reduce the cost of salaries..
In the budget, education department has Rs. If 21 thousand crores are allocated, 98 percent of it will be spent on the teachers’ salaries,’ said CM Revanth Reddy himself. This means that the government is stepping forward with the sole aim of reducing teachers’ salaries as much as possible. Teachers unions suspect that the idea of reducing 27 thousand schools to four thousand belongs to this group. With the merger, surplus teachers will float anyway. Arguments are heard that there is a danger of giving Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) to these teachers. Teachers union leaders say that the government is taking steps to reduce the salary budget by sending 30,000 teachers home.
They are angry that the budget for education should be increased and the teachers should be reduced to save the budget. With the shrinking of schools, teacher recruitments, new appointments will be questionable. The chances of issuing new DSC notifications in the future are huge. According to the official figures of the Education Department, 14 thousand teacher posts are vacant in the state. 90 percent of these are secondary grade teacher posts. After the Congress government came to power, it filled only 10 thousand teacher posts. Every year 12 thousand students are getting BED degrees in our state.
Another 1,200 people are completing courses like BPED and UG DPED. Besides Veeruga, another 4,500 people are completing the D.Ed course. A total of 16,000 people are getting ready to become teachers every year. There are already four and a half lakh BED and DD candidates in the state. All of them are eagerly waiting for the DSC notification. There are situations like not getting DSC, not getting teacher qualification. The unemployed JAC leaders are alleging that the government is deliberately not filling up the teacher posts as part of the pre-planning.
Ambulances are not able to operate.. Can they drive school buses?
The government is not able to properly run the ambulances that provide emergency treatment in the state. 108, 104 Ambulances are not properly maintained. Damages are not being repaired. Employees are not being paid on time. The government is very careless when it comes to saving lives. One or two ambulances were not able to operate in Mandal. At a time like this, if we add 13 thousand village panchayats and 2 thousand hamlets in the state, would it be possible to transport students from 15 thousand villages in total? Doubts are arising. Questions are raised as to how the government can manage school buses which cannot run ambulances.
Every village should have a school
Every village should have a primary school irrespective of the number of students. Closing schools is a deliberate deprivation of education. Shrinking of schools means taking away the basic constitutional principles and basic rights to educate all. Schools are being made artless due to non-funding and non-increasing budget. Unable to attract people. The idea of shrinking should be stopped and steps should be taken to strengthen schools.
