Hyderabad, May 24 (Namaste Telangana): BRS general secretary T Jeevan Reddy has flagged that the Revanth government has failed miserably in purchasing grain. He said that the negligence of the government has become a curse for the farmers and it is not appropriate not to discuss the most important issue in the previous cabinet meeting. He spoke to reporters at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad on Sunday. He criticized that while the farmers have been protesting in the centers for days, the Civil Servants Minister has been circling in the air.
He said that due to the delay in purchase, the moisture content will decrease and the quintal will depreciate by 10 kg and cause a loss of Rs.250. He said that the cash lost by the farmer will have to be considered as RR tax. While Civil Supply Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy said that 90 lakh metric tons of grain will be collected, Jeevan Reddy expressed his anger saying that CM Revanth Reddy reduced it to 75 lakh metric tons. He asked who should buy the remaining 15 lakh tonnes. He also expressed concern that 40 lakh tonnes of grain is languishing in the centres. They said that farmers are dying in piles due to non-purchase of paddy and demanded compensation of Rs. crore to the affected families.
Sridhar Babu.
Jeevan Reddy complained that he did not understand why Minister Sridhar Babu was bothering about Harish Rao’s statement that Future City would be canceled when he came to power. They demanded that steps be taken to purchase grain at the rate of 5 quintals per day by May 31.
