Hyderabad, July 13 (Namaste Telangana): While the “SIR” process undertaken by the Central Election Commission has shown aggressiveness in the distribution of Enumeration Forms (EF) in the state, their digitization is progressing slowly. Out of total 3,38,26,448 voters in the state, distribution of forms to 3,38,18,717 (99.98 percent) has been completed. In digitization of these, the mechanism is lagging behind. So far only 1,44,70,788 (42.78 percent) forms have been digitized. To this extent, the office of the Chief Election Officer (CEO) has released the official statistics related to the ‘SIR’ process till 6 pm on Monday.
District-wise analysis shows that while rural districts are at the forefront of the digitization process, urban districts with the largest number of voters are lagging behind. Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district topped the state with 75.44% digitization. After that Nalgonda (67.52%), Kumram Bhim Asifabad (65.94%), Siddipet (64.86%), Nizamabad (64.23%) districts showed the best performance. Districts under the state capital recorded worst performance in digitization.
Medchal Malajigiri district stands last with only 13.71 percent digitization followed by Hyderabad (17.22%) and Ranga Reddy (28.11%) districts. The CEO’s office says that the main reason for the drop in the state average is the large number of voters in Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal Malajigiri and slow data entry speed. It said that steps have been taken to further increase the speed of digitization in view of the expiry of EF adoption on 24th of this month.
