Congress Sarpanch | Inugurthi, June 20: A Congress sarpanch tried to grab the forest lands given to him during KCR’s rule, and the victim tried to commit suicide by drinking pesticide. The incident took place on Saturday in Ramutanda GP of Inugurthi mandal of Mahabubabad district.
The affected farmer Sapavat Ravinayak said that he had been given title deeds for 1.38 acres by the KCR government to cultivate the forest land from his grandfathers. Village sarpanch Meetunaik and GP staff Chandru is angry that the land belongs to the village panchayat and has been causing trouble for three months. He said that in the 20 acres of land given to him and 8 other farmers, the Sarpanch and GP staff dug a trench with JCB from Chandru. He claimed that he was cultivating the land given to him by the government but was ignored and he was deeply offended and said that he drank pesticides.
When Tehsildar Srinivas went to the spot, Salamma Sarpanch, the mother of the victim farmer Ravinayak brought the brutality to his notice. Salamma said that the sarpanch collected money from some people in Tanda that he would distribute the forest land, and when they asked for land, he was digging a trench near their lands. Forest officials reached and seized the JCB. FRO Vijayalakshmi said that they will investigate and take action against those responsible.
