SIR Enumeration | Hyderabad, July 13 (Namaste Telangana): The process of Special Amendment of Voter List (SIR), which is going on in the state, is great on paper, but it has turned out to be terrible on the ground. The calculations that officials say that they have created a record by distributing enumeration forms to almost everyone across the state, do not match the actual conditions faced by the voters at the field level. Even in the areas where the records show that the distribution of enumeration forms has been completed almost 100%, the voters say that at least Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have not entered.
According to the statistics released by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of the state on Monday, the distribution of enumeration forms has already been completed to 99.98 percent of the people across the state. Officials show calculations in the papers that distribution of enumeration forms in 26 districts has been completed 100 percent. This juggling of numbers, which was shown by the field staff to feel good in the reviews of the superiors, has now become a curse for the voters.
It didn’t come to our colonies… it didn’t come to our homes
While the officials are saying that it is 100% distribution, the voters of the city and urban areas say that there is no record of receipt of BLOs for our colony and our houses. Where have the enumeration forms that we should have gone?’ They are asking. Especially in Hyderabad, its surrounding gated communities and suburban colonies, many people do not have farms. Allegations are being made that the officials have not come to the houses and collected the details, sitting in the offices and ticking the forms as if they have been distributed.
There are accusations that the field level staff are not working due to the pressure of the superiors to complete the process within the stipulated time. ‘There are six voters in our house. We are not educated. No election officials came to us. Those documents should be filled and given. No one brought them to us. Etta siru… will our votes be lost?’ Said an old lady from a colony in Hyderabad, she was angry with ‘Namaste Telangana’.
