- More than 2 thousand crores in arrears
- Farmers circle around officials
- Avoidance of debt
- It is the same for rice farmers
- Farmers’ demand for crop paise
Hyderabad, June 17 (Namaste Telangana): The Congress government is harassing the farmers by not paying for the crops purchased from them. Even after months of harvesting, the farmers are not being paid. Although the purchase process has already been completed, the paise is not being deposited to the farmers. Due to the way the government is doing, both the maize farmers and the rice farmers are facing financial difficulties. With the onset of the rainy season, there is criticism that the government is sprinkling water on the hopes of the farmers that if the crop yields, it will be useful for investment. On the one hand, if the farmer does not give assurance, on the other hand, if the crop does not ripen, how can the investment be made? Farmers are complaining.
2 thousand crores owed to the maize farmers
The Congress government owes a huge amount to the maize farmers. It is known that the bills of about Rs. 2 thousand crores have to be paid. In Yasangi, about 16 lakh tonnes of maize was purchased from farmers at a support price of Rs 2,400 per quintal. Up to Rs.3,900 crores are due to be paid to the farmers who sold. It is known that only Rs.1,800 crores have been paid so far. It means that Rs. 2,100 crores are still to be paid. When will this amount be paid? Farmers are complaining that they were not told.
Farmers are making rounds around the officials at the field level for those dues. The rice donors are worried that the authorities are bypassing them by saying “repoomapu”. It is learned that the government is saying that the loan has not come yet and the payments will take time. In fact, Markfed took a loan of Rs. 4 thousand crores from NCDC for the purchase of cocoa beans. It is reported that Rs. 2 thousand crores have been diverted by Markfed. It is known that the old loans were paid with the loan taken for the maize farmers. Due to this, the payments of the cotton farmers are being criticized.
700 crores for grain farmers
Grain farmers are also facing the same fate. The government is neglecting to pay the bonus due for grain. It has purchased 14 lakh tonnes of grain from farmers in Yasangi. To that extent, Rs. 700 crores have to be paid as bonus to the farmers. Farmers have not been paid Nayapaisa till now. It is noteworthy that the government has not released the funds required for the bonus even though it has been two months since the purchase of grain. With this, the Congress government has increased the bonus paise in this case too? Suspicions are being expressed among the farmers. Already in the last Yasangi, grain farmers were given Rs. 1,159 crores raised. With this, there are opinions that avoidance is certain in this Yasangi as well.
Rainy season investments?
Criticisms are being expressed that the aim of the Congress government is to push the farmers into financial difficulties. On the one hand, the rainy season has started. Farmers are struggling for money for seeds, fertilizers, ploughing, and labor. Farmers are of the opinion that providing farmers insurance will be very useful. It is expected that if the money from the sold crops is given soon, it will be useful for investment. Farmers will not be assured, crops will not grow.. And what about investing in rainy season crops? Farmers are worried. They are indignant that the situation of borrowing at huge interest has arisen due to the government’s behavior. They express their concern that if they do not pay the loan, they will not be able to plant crops.
