July 30, Hyderabad: The founder of Prajwala Foundation Dr. Sunitha Krishnan said. On the occasion of World Anti-Trafficking Day announced by the United Nations, B.V.R.R. Dr. Padmashri on the topic “Human Trafficking & Safe Migration” at the Telangana Police Academy on Thursday. Sunita Krishnan spoke. Addressing the awareness conference, she said that human trafficking is a rapidly expanding organized crime across the globe.
Sunitha Krishnan, founder of Prajwala Foundation expressed concern that human trafficking is on the rise globally. Sunitha Krishnan advised to be vigilant against sexual exploitation, child labour, forced begging, trafficking of organs, cyber frauds and trafficking in the name of fake foreign jobs. Explaining cyber threats such as online grooming and CSAM targeting children through social media, Sunitha called for collective implementation of Prevention, Protection, Prosecution, Partnership (4Ps) principles for victim protection, rehabilitation and effective investigation.

Academy Director Abhilash Bisth, IPS said that people have immense faith in police uniform and every police officer should maintain that faith with honesty, professionalism and humane attitude. Describing human trafficking as modern-day slavery, he suggested that there is a need for empathy towards the victims, coordinated action, responsible use of social media and protection of personal privacy. On this occasion Sunitha Krishnan was honored with a memento by the director of the academy. Academy Deputy Director G Kavitha, Assistant Director Vema Srinivasa Reddy, other officers, probationary DSPs and trainee officers participated in this program.
