SIR Enumeration | New Delhi, July 12: Apart from existing voters who were not registered in the last Special Comprehensive Amendment (SIR) process to maintain their names in the electoral roll, applicants seeking new inclusion in the electoral roll will also have to submit ‘SIR’ details of their parents, election officials said.
The Election Commission, which has issued orders to this effect, has made it clear that the applicants will have to submit a declaration with the details of their parent’s ‘sir’ while completing the form to be submitted for new voter registration. It was included in the ‘Sir’ program undertaken last year in Bihar. Election officials of Bihar said that it is mandatory to submit declaration separately even if no changes are included in Form 6.
Election officials said this would help in mapping voters and also reduce the need for new voters to submit more verification documents with their application. Officials clarified that even when Form 6 is submitted online, the application process is not complete until the declaration is completed.
