Rythu Discom | Sarkar's misgivings about Rythu Discom

Rythu Discom | Hyderabad, June 7 (Namaste Telangana): ‘Rythu Discom will be started from June 2, the day of formation of the state’ is the announcement of CM Revanth Reddy. The date he mentioned has passed. Expired. However, the Congress government was unable to start a new DISCOM as the State Electricity Regulatory Council (ERC) has not yet issued a license and permission to the Rythu DISCOM. There is a loud discussion among the electricity workers that some officials have misled the government in this matter. Will Rythu Discom get license now? Or will it take some more time? They are discussing.

ERC factions are in disarray

ERC’s permission is mandatory for any new decision to be taken in power companies. Especially if you want to set up a new DISCOM, you have to take a license from the ERC. In this context, the ERC held a public hearing in Hyderabad on the 29th of last month on the petition submitted by Rythu DISCOM for a license. A large number of farmers, trade union leaders and representatives of political parties attended the hearing like never before. 34 objections were expressed on the formation of Rythu DISCOM. Except for the ruling party, the leaders of all the parties and the representatives of the trade unions strongly opposed the formation of the third DISCOM. He said that the license was not given to the farmer DISCOM and requested that the petition submitted by the DISCOM be withdrawn. It has been requested that the existing two discoms should not be agama. With this, the ERC is in turmoil. That is why there are opinions that the license could not be issued by June 2. There is a campaign going on that ERC sources are planning to conduct public inquiry in some districts. Even though the ERC sources were contacted, no one responded.

Any answers to these questions?

  • How about a public hearing in Hyderabad on the petition submitted by Rythu Discom for license? How can a decision be taken on this very important issue without collecting opinions from the farmers district wise?
  • How to run a new discom with 42% electricity share and Rs.35 thousand crores of debt?
  • How can a Rythu Discom survive with just Rs 5 crore equity?
  • How can a company run on government subsidies without revenue?
  • How can services be provided across the state with only two thousand engineers and staff?
  • How is it possible for each lineman to supervise 600 transformers?

Still strongly opposed

Electricity workers and engineers are still vehemently opposing the government’s order for the formation of Rythu Discom. Many objections are being raised on it. The Revanth Reddy government has already filed a caveat in the court because of the concern that there will be obstacles to the establishment of this DISCOM. The power engineers and trade union leaders who were furious over this appeared before the ERC and heard arguments against the new DISCOM.
