The Congress government again cheated the workers of that organization who went on strike with the main demand being the merger of RTC employees in the government. The workers are angry that the Congress government has lied to them by saying that ‘stop the strike before we merge’.
- Demand of RTC workers to Govt
- They deceived us with false promises!
- No election.. take up merger immediately
Hyderabad, July 22 (Namaste Telangana): The Congress government has again deceived the RTC workers who went on strike with the main demand being the merger of the RTC employees in the government. The workers are angry that the Congress government has lied to them by saying that ‘stop the strike before we merge’. For three months now, the process related to the merger has been like ‘whatever is done there is there’. There is no movement in the ministerial sub-committee which was formed for the purpose of merger. They are feeling that they will not take up their merger till the assembly elections again. Exactly 3 months ago on April 21, the strike siren sounded in RTC from midnight. All the first duty buses across the state are confined to depots. The strike intensified from the morning of 22nd. The workers took up agitations in front of the depots everywhere.
Guarantee of merger
The government was shocked by the success of the strike on the first day. However, due to their stubbornness, the strike escalated on the second day and the driver Shankar Goud committed suicide, and the government was shocked. The labor leaders were invited for talks the next day. With the opposition supporting the strike and growing intolerance among the people, arrangements were made to call off the strike. The labor JAC called off the strike as they said that they will take up the merger of RTC with the government, announce an appointed day to the workers and resolve the rest of the strike issues as soon as possible.
Merger process not moving for 3 months..
The government has given an irreparable shock to the RTC workers who were hoping to speed up the process of merging with the government and provide job security. Due to the non-announcement of procedures related to the merger, non-disclosure of the appointed day, and no clear decision taken at the government level, the anxiety among the workers is rising. The main demand of the merger process has been cornered and the Congress government has brought the election process of trade unions to the fore. The labor leaders are angry that the government has taken these misguided measures with the idea that the merger process can be stopped till the end of the elections. It is said that an attempt is being made to hide the issue of merger by creating differences among the workers with the elections. Although the leaders of the trade unions themselves have written letters to the government and the chief minister, they say that the government is stubborn. They are demanding that the union elections be suspended until the merger process is completed. The RTC workers are openly demanding that the government should immediately announce its clear stand on the matter and bring a legal conclusion to the merger.
What was agreed upon in the negotiations should be implemented
- SWF petition to RTC MD
Hyderabad, July 22 (Namaste Telangana): The leaders of SWF (CITU) on Wednesday appealed to the RTC MD, demanding that the issues agreed upon during the discussions on the issues during the RTC workers’ strike are still pending and they should be implemented immediately. It is said that the workers are losing Rs.10 crores per 3.5 crores.
