Hyderabad, June 29 (Namaste Telangana): The first Chief Minister of Telangana, KCR Sarkar, has given high priority to the education sector which is the source of human resource development. The current Congress government ruling the state with regressive policies is degrading the education sector along with all other sectors. Purogami has turned the state into a poor state. The progressive policies adopted by the BRS government were sidelined. Public welfare programs have been established. If the state of KCR’s government is set as an example for the country, the Congress has degraded the progressive state to a worse state with chaotic policies. If KCR works with the slogan of increasing and sharing, this government is working with the sole agenda of cutting. That is what the government is preparing to reduce the 27 thousand government schools to 4 thousand and close down 23 thousand schools in the state.

Appreciation by NITI Aayog
NITI Aayog praised the education reforms undertaken by the KCR government. In school education, gross enrollment ratio has increased and dropout rate has decreased. The Center has praised the digital education implemented in the state during the Corona crisis. It praised the increase in educational standards in the state with a multi-pronged strategy. 14 states of the country have studied our education system. Harvard University has studied the success story of Gurukuls as a case study. The National Family Health Survey statistics conducted in 2014-15 and 2019-20 mirrored the educational development of Muslim girls in Telangana. According to these two surveys, it is a matter of pride that Telangana State stands first in the country in college education for Muslim girls. It has also stood third in the national level in school education. The survey revealed that in the last seven years, the growth rate of Muslim girls in college education was 3 percent at the national level, while Telangana’s growth rate was 26 percent. It is remarkable that Telangana has achieved a growth of 10 percent in the school education of Muslim girls and stands at the third position at the national level.

Budget doubled in ten years
In the early days of the formation of the state, the share of school education in the state budget was only Rs.10 thousand crores. This budget was gradually increased by the then BRS government. It doubled in ten years. As the budget widened, the budget allocation for school education increased. Apart from that, it has spent a lot on Gurukuls. Rs.4 thousand crores have been spent annually by various welfare departments for Gurukuls. In 2014, the budget of Gurukuls was only Rs.744 crores. By 2023, this budget has increased to Rs. 4 thousand crores. The BRS government has spent Rs.2,800 crores in the form of scholarships. As a result, 3,000 people joined IITs, IIMs and medical colleges. Another 6,000 have received overseas education in the form of overseas scholarships.

‘Mana Uru-Mana Badi’ which changed the shape of schools
The then KCR government undertook the ‘Mana Ooru-Mana Badi’ program to completely change the look of government schools. While this program was undertaken in three phases, it worked to change the appearance of schools with 12 elements. Many schools which have become artless in dilapidated condition have got a new look with this program. It has initiated the construction of around 8 thousand new classrooms. In this program, each school received dual desks. Provision of safe drinking water has been made to the students. Solar power plants have been set up in Badul. Sarkar has provided interactive flat panels in schools as part of digital education.

KCR good works

  • As part of the mid-day meal scheme, all the states in the country are offering doddubiyam buvva, but only Telangana state is offering sannabiyam buvva. Provided 100% state government funded mid-day meals to students of classes 9 and 10.
  • As a part of prevention of anemia and provision of additional nutrition, students were given ragijava and jaggery three days a week.
  • During the difficult times of Corona, 1.2 lakh private teachers and staff were supported by providing Rs.2 thousand and 25 kg of rice for 3 months.
  • After the formation of Telangana, more than 8,792 teacher posts were filled. Gurukula teacher posts have been filled on a large scale.
  • Acharya Konda established Laxman Bapuji Udyana University. This university was built with a cost of Rs.50 crores and started recently. KCR Sarkar has initiated women’s university.
  • The KCR government has initiated the establishment of an education hub with world-class standards at a cost of Rs.146 crores in Gajwel of Siddipet district. It has built education hubs for girls on 20 acres and boys on 40 acres.
  • Model schools were abolished after 2016 by the central government. As a result, the state had to close down the 194 model schools in the state, and the state government ran them entirely with its own funds.
    The works of Congress
  • As soon as the Congress came to power, the Gurukuls were uprooted. As a result, snake bites and rat bites became routine in gurukulas and hostels. It has become a farce for students to get sick and get admitted to the dispensaries.
  • 128 students died in Gurukul. The reason for their death is the negligence of the Congress government.
  • Little girls are short of books. KGBVs and model schools in government schools, gurukuls have become the target of food poisoning incidents. Three cases of food poisoning in Maganur of Narayanapet district created a sensation.
  • College owners went on strike as fee reimbursement dues were not released. At Indira Park, the situation deteriorated to the point where they had to stage a dharna.
  • There are more than 2 thousand zero enrollment schools in the state. Of these, over 1,400 Chiluku schools have been closed by the government.
  • Congress has promised to fill up 25 thousand teacher posts by setting up Mega DSC. But now the government is closing schools in the name of teacher adjustment and rationalization.

Education revolution
The first government in Swarashtra has filled new requirements for the education system of the government. Government schools and other educational institutions have been strengthened by the BRS government. More than 1,000 Gurukulas were established in the first release. Separate gurukulas have been established for SC, ST, BC, minority girls and boys. It spent Rs.1.25 lakhs on each student of those gurukulas. The strong education of our gurus became a role model for the entire country. It has become a study center that teaches lessons to different states. In such a short span of time Telangana education sector has revealed amazing results.

How many students in the school?
There are no students in Gollapally Government School under Peddampeta Gram Panchayat, Hajipur Mandal, Manchiryala District. While there was only one teacher, he was not seen when ‘Namaste Telangana’ visited on Monday. When I asked the attendant about this, he said that he had gone out. While a new temple was being constructed next to it, an electricity connection was given to the borehole in the school to use the water. The related wires were carelessly left on the ground. After a while the teacher came to the school. If there are four students’ names in the attendance sheet, why not even one of them came to school. It is noteworthy that the teacher said that the students will come to school from tomorrow.
