Hyderabad, July 21 (Namaste Telangana): Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka has said that due to El Nino, Telangana is already not getting good rains and if the situation continues like this, it will have to face dire conditions. Bhatti was the chief guest at a conference on ‘From rising temperatures in the Pacific Ocean to preparedness of Telangana’ at Rabindra Bharati on Tuesday. On this occasion, he said, ‘Due to lack of rain, there is no irrigation for the projects. In the coming days, apart from drinking water and irrigation water, electricity supply will also become difficult.
It is also difficult to procure coal if the whole depends on thermal power. So along with water, electricity should also be used sparingly’, he suggested. He asked the authorities to make people aware of the impact of El Nino. It is advised to create awareness about crops grown with less water. He said that the electricity demand is less during the monsoon season, but due to the effect of El Nino, the demand of summer is expected. On the other hand, people are angry about Bhatti’s comments. They are questioning whether they are saying the words of righteousness while leaving the water. Energy Special Chief Secretary Naveen Mittal, Planning Secretary Gaurav, IAS officers Divya Devarajan, Gopi, Jitesh, Planning Director Rufus Duttam and others participated in the programme.
