Majority of countries are against US sanctions – PARAHUSHAR NEWS

Cuban Ambassador Juan Carlos Marsan
New Delhi: Cuba’s ambassador to our country, Juan Carlos Marsan, said that the majority of countries, including India, will vote against the US sanctions against Cuba. Speaking to the media in New Delhi, he said that Cuba would introduce a resolution in the United Nations General Assembly demanding immediate removal of Cuba. The UN Assembly will discuss this on the 28th and 29th of this month. The impact of US sanctions on Cubans will be discussed once again. Cuba’s ambassador to India, Juan Carlos Marsan, commented that they expect the majority of countries, including their ally India, to vote in their favor in the voting that will be held after the discussion. This is the 33rd time that the Cuba resolution has been introduced. Last year 183 countries strengthened their resolution. He said that only America and Israel were opposed and Abu Dhabi was absent. He showed a copy of the resolution at a press conference here. He criticized the economic, trade and monetary sanctions imposed by the US on Cubans for the past 65 years as motivated by political reasons. As a result of them, Cuba’s development has been stunted, he said. The resolution also mentions the recent remarks of the US Secretary of State that the main objective of these sanctions is to deprive Cuba of foreign sources of income. The resolution explained that the US is implementing this policy with the objectives of damaging tourism revenue from other countries including the US, destroying international medical cooperation, blocking energy supplies, and blocking foreign direct investment.
