On the one hand, government lands are being devoured and on the other, valuable private lands are being captured. Especially in the area of Greater Hyderabad, bullies and bouncers are making threats wherever valuable lands are found. Officials and police are also supporting them as they have the support of government leaders and chiefs. As a result, common people’s lands are left unprotected. In this order, land grabbing in Khanamet has recently come to light. The illegals have seized 1,400 yards of land worth Rs 50 crore in Khanamet under Madapur and have been keeping it in their possession for almost two weeks. The victims express their grievances that if they ask, they are told that ‘big sir’ is behind them, bouncers and rowdy gangs are sent and threatened.
Anarchy with power and prestige
A plot of 1,400 square yards belonging to five persons in survey number 41/11 next to Khanamet Yashoda Hospital. There are registration and sale deed in the name of five people since fifteen years. In the past, there was a dispute over this land, and the Kukatpally Civil Court also gave an injunction order. Syed Maqbool has some land next to it. Along with that land, the land in survey number 41/11 is also theirs and the flat owners are alleging that they have threatened to vacate the place.
One night, Maqbool brought Gottimukkala Gopalakrishna Verma, Pallapu Govardhan, Ravinaik and some other goons along with him and removed the fencing and foil around the place. They said that they have written the name ‘Rasool Sons’ after Maqbool’s father and claim that the land belongs to them. They complained that for the last two weeks, tens of goons have been wreaking havoc in that land. The landowners are expressing their concern that if they ask questions, they are being bullied, that ‘big sir’ is behind them, and if they do more, he will come, and even if they tell the police and authorities, nothing will happen.
Ignorant police and officials
The victims complain that if they go to Madapur police station to complain about the encroachers, they will give a complaint to the GHMC officials. If they go to the GHMC officials, they feel that there are elders in this matter and they advise that it is better to vacate the land. He said that after going around the top police officers for days, finally a case was registered against Maqbool, Gopalakrishna Verma, Pallapu Govardhan and Ravinaik.
It is alleged that even after a week, no investigation has been done and no action has been taken against the illegals. Even after registering a case, the victims say that more than 50 goons are brought to their place every night and threaten them. He said that no matter how many complaints they make, they cannot do anything, they have elders behind them and they are issuing a decree that they have to hand over the land. They still want to respond and do justice to them. It is reported that cases related to land grabbing and threats have been registered against the accused Gopalakrishna Verma in the past.
