Hyderabad, July 8 (Namaste Telangana): BRS party president, ex-minister, Sirisilla MLA Kalvakuntla Tarakarama Rao has issued a defamation notice to the owners of the English daily Deccan Chronicle. He clarified in a notice sent by his legal team PV Janani and Associates that the article ‘KTR’s Landlord Builds Tower in Hussainsagar’ published on the front page of the magazine on Wednesday was deliberately written to defame him. He sent this notice to Deccan Chronicle Holdings Limited. KTR’s lawyers claimed that the article made false allegations linking the building permits given to a private developer near Hyderabad’s Hussainsagar to the farmhouse property in Janwada. It was concluded that KTR had nothing to do with the private project, its developer or the building permits.

He denied that he had misused his power during his tenure as minister as completely untrue and deliberately rehashed old, baseless allegations. It is stated in the legal notice that this fake news was published with the malicious intention of damaging his reputation and credibility without minimum evidence. A deadline of 48 hours has been given to the publisher to apologize for this mistake of not following minimum journalistic values and not seeking an explanation from KTR. They demanded immediate removal of the defamatory article and digital links related to it within this deadline. Also, it has been clarified that an unconditional public apology should be given for the damage caused and such false news should not be published in the future. The lawyers have warned that if these conditions are not met within 48 hours, appropriate civil, criminal and compensation claims will be filed against the ownership of Deccan Chronicle.
