Karimnagar Collectorate, June 11: The new integrated collectorate building, which the residents of Karimnagar district have been waiting for for many years, has finally been completed. During the regime of BRS, new districts were formed for administrative convenience and administrative buildings were built for each district. Although the work was accelerated as per the will of Telangana’s first Chief Minister KCR, there was a serious delay due to the negligence of the Congress government. BRS working president KTR also brought this matter to the attention of the government. Finally completed after two-and-a-half years, it is gearing up for launch by the end of this month. If this building complex built with modern touches to accommodate more than 40 government offices at one place, people will face difficulties.
Commencement of works in December 2021
It is known that KCR, the first Chief Minister of Telangana in Swarashtram, initiated the reorganization of districts in 2016. As a part of that, it is known that new districts were formed on October 11 and an integrated collectorate complex was built for each district for ease of administration. Even though new collectorate buildings were constructed in almost all the districts when the BRS government was there, it was delayed in Karimnagar. On December 29, 2021, the then BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar, State Planning Commission Vice President Boinapally Vinodkumar and many other ministers and MLAs started integrated building construction works. It went fast.
The construction of the ground floor was completed within a year and a half. Later, due to the assembly elections and the change of government, there was a delay in the release of funds. Along with this, the development works started during the BRS regime continued to be neglected. With that, things went smoothly. Actually, the building complex was supposed to be completed by June 2024 according to the G+2 method, but the work has slowed down due to the delay in the release of funds. Due to this, people are facing severe difficulties in not being able to move around the government offices scattered in different parts of the district center. Starting from small and small certificates to revenue, welfare and development works, they are not able to move from one office to another and are still suffering.
Officials and staff are also suffering due to lack of infrastructure. In this background, the delay in the construction of the Collectorate was brought to the attention of the state government by former minister and BRS working president KTR. The residents of the district mentioned the difficulties faced by the authorities and demanded to speed up the construction. Later, when the funds were released from the government, the works gained speed. Except for the installation of furniture, all the other major works have been completed, while the greenery and landscaping works undertaken in the Collectorate premises have reached the final stage.
While only the retaining wall grilling work is going on, that too will be completed in three to four days. Along with the interior of the rooms, electrification, Wi-Fi and other facilities have also been completed. Although Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has announced that arrangements are being made to start it at the end of this month, doubts are being expressed. The commencement of the new collectorate has already been postponed thrice. Initially, the construction of the ground floor was to be started after completion, but it was stopped due to the assembly elections.
Later, the authorities announced that it would start in August 2024, but it was not possible. Although Nirudu revealed that arrangements were being made to start on June 2, that too did not materialize. The discussion started once again with Minister Ponnam’s statement. However, with the completion of the integrated collectorate building complex, the state-of-the-art administrative center for the district will be available very soon.

Karimnagar Integrated Collectorate is built in G+2 style with modern touches. All the facilities have been provided with Rs.51 crores.
