- Congress is ready to cut the throat of Telangana
- Revanth Sarkar’s attitude is a huge loss to the state: Niranjan Reddy
Hyderabad, May 21 (Namaste Telangana): Former Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy has asked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy how he will agree to connect Godavari-Kaveri before Telangana’s share in Godavari is decided. He expressed concern that Telangana state will have to lose its rights over Godavari waters forever due to Revanth Sarkar’s ill-advised actions. In a statement on Thursday, Revanth criticized that the government of AP CM Chandrababu is ready to cut the throat of Telangana farmers. They said that if the AP government is doing mud politics in the name of flood waters, then the Congress government in the state is blindly watching.
He suggested that the Telangana government should demand that Andhra Pradesh, which is diverting Godavari water in the name of Cauvery link, give up its share in the Krishna waters and make a written agreement in this regard. He warned that using Nagarjunasagar as a balancing reservoir would cause immense damage to Telangana. They lamented that if Ichchampally, Sammakka-Sarakka and Indrawati are linked, flood control in Telangana will become difficult.
Violation of AP Reorganization Act..
Niranjan Reddy commented that Godavari-Kaveri linking is a violation of AP Reorganization Act-2014. Telangana.. It has been stated that 763 TMCs of Krishna waters as first demanded in Krishna Tribunal-2 and 968 TMCs of Godavari according to Godavari Water Disputes Tribunal-1980. To this extent, Telangana has been advised to fully use its water share. If Telangana projects were proposed for the use of water from the Srisailam project, the then joint AP government objected to use Srisailam only for hydro-electricity and criticized the reservoir away from Telangana.
Later, in violation of these rules, Pothireddypadu was constructed in the name of drinking water supply to Chennai and instead of 1,500 cusecs, 1 lakh cusecs was allegedly moved. Duyyabatta said that even now Godavari-Caveri link has been brought to the fore as part of a conspiracy to move water from Nagarjunasagar to AP in the same manner. He reiterated that the Telangana government should be vigilant and stop it, otherwise Telangana will have to lose forever. He questioned why the Telangana Congress is following AP’s proposals like a sheep without demanding for Telangana water rights and shares. He reminded that the struggle for a separate state started with the proposal of water, funds and appointments.
A public movement if there is damage to the interests of the state
Niranjan Reddy warned that if Telangana’s interests are violated in the waters of Krishna and Godavari, BRS will not rest and will launch a public movement. He accused BJP and Congress of jeopardizing the interests of the state. MPs of 2 national parties were criticized for not fighting for the state’s water rights and becoming puppets in the hands of the party leadership. They demanded to open their eyes and reverse the harmful actions of the state.
