Vyasa Maharishi Temple and TTD houses in the temple premises have flooded. At the temple, shops, private lodges, inns, from Pushkaraghat to Amman’s temple. Gangadevi, Suryeshwara Shiva Temple, Akshara Colony, SBI, Union Bank and Vaishya Satra have joined the bridge over Godavari.
Officers were evacuated with the help of tractors in the alphabetical colony. About 30 students and six teachers were trapped in the Nagabhushan College as the flood was surrounded. This led to a week on the ground floor. Eight people who went to bring them out were also trapped in flood waters. Officials estimate that the flood surge is likely to increase in the next few hours. It is in this context that local people are being alerted.
