Lolli of funds in the medical department
  • Bills of Rs.478 crore are pending for the agencies
  • The Congress government is giving only Rs.50 crores per month
  • They are agencies that say they are not enough
  • TGMSIDC wants to give 100 crores

Hyderabad, June 9 (Namaste Telangana): The Congress government is cracking down on agencies that have supplied medicines, surgicals and equipment to government hospitals in the state. They are running rampant without paying their dues. Rs.200 crores for medicines, Rs.150 crores for equipment, Rs.128 crores for surgicals and total dues of Rs.478 crores have to be paid to the agencies, while allocating only Rs.50 crores per month, they are wringing their hands. The managers of the agencies recently complained to the TGMSIDC MD, Finance and Planning Department Secretary that they are not enough and due to the huge accumulation of pending dues, they are unable to supply the medical equipment. The officer then explained this problem to the Minister of Health and through him to the Minister of Finance. He requested that Rs.100 crore be allocated to TGMSIDC every month. After the Finance Minister agreed to it, proposals were sent for the clearance of Rs.100 crore bills last month. But, it is learned that the top officials of the health department rejected those proposals and expressed their anger that the bills for Rs.100 crores were sent with whose permission.

Agencies that want to stop supply
Managers of the agencies say they will stop supplying medical supplies to dispensaries if their bills are not paid properly. They complained that no matter how many times they tried to meet the concerned superior, no appointment was given. They are angry that they are giving free advice to meet the DME if they are talking about dues, and if they meet the DME, they will file a file with that superior. They are already facing serious financial difficulties and demand to pay their bills immediately. He said that the supply of some surgical items has already been stopped for the last 6 months and only some emergency surgical items are being supplied as per the request of the superintendents. It is said that due to the non-availability of surgical equipment in government hospitals, patients have to spend a large amount of money and have to buy it from outside. If the new MD is trying to solve the problem, he is questioning whether the senior medical officer can block him. As the pending dues have accumulated heavily, they are demanding that the state government should respond and allocate Rs.100 crores to TGMSIDC every month.
