Bellampally, July 23: A girl student fell ill due to food poisoning at a girls’ Gurukula school in Bellampally, Manchiryala district. According to the details of the students and parents, boiled peas were served as breakfast on Wednesday evening. 30 female students vomited due to stomach pain and nausea shortly after having dinner.

The staff immediately rushed them to the local government hospital. Some who recovered were brought to Gurukula. On Thursday morning, some others vomited and they were also taken to the hospital. Some were treated by the medical staff of Shamshirnagar Urban Health Center in Gurukula School itself. Seven people were taken to the area hospital in Mancharya in critical condition. DMH VO Narendra Rathod and program officer Sudhakar visited the students.

After that, they went to the school and inspected the food items. Food and water samples were taken and sent to the lab under the direction of Food Safety District Officer Vasuram. Sridhar, RCO of BC Gurukula schools and Sirisha, DCO came and inquired about the details. The district leaders of BRSV have demanded action against the officials and staff responsible for the uncooked food and unhygienic surroundings of the students who fell ill.
