Namaste Telangana Network, May 24: Farmers are protesting the delay in weighing. They are angry that even after a month has passed since the grain has been moved to the purchase centers, they have not been able to pick up the forks. Farmers in many districts also took up writing on Sunday. Farmers, who were angry with the non-weighing of paddy, went on a rampage on the Hanumakonda-Siddipet road at Palamakula in Nangunur mandal of Siddipet district. He demanded that the government take a special initiative and speed up the procurement of grain. Farmers complained that the procurement process was completely stopped due to non-cooperation of the millers even though the grain was ready at the purchase centres.

The farmers lamented that they have been suffering from heatwaves and untimely rains for weeks. Farmers staged a rally at Tellarallapallithanda in Pangal mandal of Vanaparthi district on Sunday, saying that even after a month has passed, the grain has not been weighed. Many farmers said that they have not planted the thorn for the last 30 days. They complained to the Tehsildar and Additional Collector but there was little response.

He complained that only 30 percent has been purchased so far. Angry farmers who are not buying the grain even after weeks have passed, have taken up a protest in Annaram of Ramareddy mandal of Kamareddy district. The farmers said that they were not buying paddy and they were complaining at the centers. Some farmers complained that the lorries were not coming even though they had planted their grains. The officials responded and warned that the purchase process should be expedited, otherwise the Collectorate would be besieged.

Farmers locked the main gate of the beet market yard in Jagityala district center to prevent the lorries from leaving the yard to protest against the extra collection. In this order, the lorry owners and farmers had an argument. Many farmers said that the government is giving money for the movement of sacks of maize and grain, and even though the officials say that they should be moved free of charge, it is not right for the lorry owners to collect money from them. Along with the lorry owners, the porters complained that they were collecting money.
