Hyderabad, June 23 (Namaste Telangana): The High Court has made it clear that Sri Kanyaka Parameshwari Devasthanam in Secunderabad Hyderabad is considered a charitable institution and the rules and procedures prescribed by Devadaya Act must be implemented in the management of that temple. It is known that if these rules are not followed in the governance and administration of the temple, the funds should be considered as misappropriation. Justice Alishetty Lakshminarayana heard the petition filed by Nagilla Srinivas, president of the Telangana Rashtriya Temple Parirakshan Samithi, challenging the construction of the new temple complex.
While hearing the arguments of the senior advocate on behalf of the petitioner, it was brought to the attention of the court that the management committee of the temple collected about Rs.16 crores from the devotees and there was no transparency in the use of those funds. He said that the authorities have not responded despite several complaints to the debt department regarding the preservation of temple funds and properties. It is said that necessary engineering permissions were not taken for the construction works and no audit was conducted on the donations.
He pleaded that court’s intervention is necessary for the protection of the rights of devotees and temple property as well as transparent administration. Later, the High Court responded.. According to the Debt Act, it is known that the authority to take a decision on disputed issues rests with the concerned authority. It adjourned the hearing by ordering the respondents to explain whether they took the advice of Sthapathi before moving the idol of the god from Bhuthalam to the first floor, and whether any ritual rituals like Kumbhabhishekam were performed before the opening of the new temple.
