Hyderabad, June 17 (Namaste Telangana): Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswar Rao has clarified that the bonus will be applied only to the seven varieties of rice promoted by the government and farmers should cultivate only those varieties. To this extent, on Wednesday, they reviewed the preparation of monsoon cultivation, availability of fertilizers and seeds. Speaking on this occasion, the minister advised the farmers to cultivate only the seeds that are in demand in the market.
Keeping in view the market demand, millers’ suggestions and export opportunities, the state government has cultivated varieties of BPT-5204 (Sambamasuri), RNR-15048 (Telangana Sona), HMT Sona, Jaishreram, KNM-1638 (Koonaram Sannalu), WGL-44 (Siddhi), KNM-7715. He said that he is encouraging. In this context, the companies have been advised to make these seven types of seeds available to the farmers. He said that the government will take a decision on the seed subsidy soon and is considering the process of depositing the subsidy amount in the farmers’ accounts.
