Degree | Council vs. Commissionerate.. Degree Education in Confusion

Degree | Hyderabad, May 25 (Namaste Telangana): Degree education is becoming a carafe of controversies. During the admissions season, differences arose between key figures. If you look at the situation, the situation is like Telangana Higher Education Council vs. College Education Commissionerate. As a result, there are indications of a decrease in admissions in the degree program.

The government has directed to introduce new degree courses in the academic year 2026-27. With this, the college education department and the higher education council started different efforts. While the Department of College Education tried to introduce Apprenticeship Courses (AEDP), the Council of Higher Education tried to introduce non-apprenticeship courses in the name of emerging courses. The Department of College Education has introduced Apprenticeship courses in 94 NAC recognized Government Degree Colleges. Earlier 16 courses were introduced, this academic year 11 courses were introduced. Higher Education Council has taken steps to introduce 11 non-AEDP courses in private degree colleges. Non-AEDP courses are not yet included in Dost. While it has been leading to cold war for a long time, the latest dispute on Monday came to a head. Misleading each other’s argument.. It went to the extent of complaining to the Sarkar about the same.

Arguments of College Education Commissionerate..

“We are not against new courses in the degree. From the beginning we are only saying that the procedure should be followed. Moreover, the issue of introducing new courses in private colleges is within the purview of universities and higher education councils. Ours is the only subject for admission to courses in government degree colleges. We have introduced apprenticeship courses in NAAC recognized degree colleges as per UGC guidelines. Rules are different for introduction of new courses in private. First the syllabus has to be approved by all the universities. Inspections should be completed in colleges. Based on the reports, if the universities recommend as many seats as possible, we will approve all the seats and upload them in Dost. As soon as approved we will upload the seats in Dost. College Education Commissionerate gave an explanation.

According to the arguments of the Higher Education Council..

The Vice Chancellors (VC) of all universities have approved the introduction of new courses. The syllabus of the courses is approved by the BOS of the varsities. Inspections have also been completed in colleges applying for many new courses. The respective reports were submitted to the Commissionerate of College Education. But the desired approval is not given. Even though Dost Convener said.. Commissioner is not giving approvals as there is no such mode. What if you don’t listen to the Dost Convener’s orders..? They are postponing it for some reason. The Council of Higher Education complained that AEDP courses were included in Dost without consulting the convener.

Sarkar Chentaku Panchayat..

The Panchayat between the Council and the Commissionerate finally reached out to the Sarkar regarding the introduction of new courses. It is reported that V Balakishtar Reddy, Chairman of Higher Education Council, who is thinking of resolving Tado and Paydo, is trying to meet CM Revanth Reddy. It is reported that he expressed his dissatisfaction with Government Advisor K Kesha Rao on Monday. If he is trying to do good for the students, what if he kneels down..? It is known that not only questioned but also asked to intervene in this matter. Balakishtareddy said that it is the students who will lose if these courses are stopped.
