New Delhi, June 10: The controversy over the rejection of the nomination filed by Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan to contest the Rajya Sabha elections from Madhya Pradesh has reached the Supreme Court. On Wednesday, the Congress party approached the Supreme Court challenging the decision taken by the Returning Officer. Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi told the Supreme Court that the criminal case considered for rejecting the nomination does not actually exist and an urgent inquiry should be conducted. Meenakshi Natarajan’s nomination was rejected by the Returning Officer on Tuesday based on the BJP’s complaint that the details of the case registered against her in Telangana were not disclosed in the nomination affidavit. But the Congress is arguing that no criminal case has been registered against her and only a court notice has been issued.
