Hyderabad, July 10 (Namaste Telangana): The issue of setting up a performing arts museum in the premises of Telugu University (Nampally) is abuzz. Allocating a university to a private museum is controversial. Students, former students, artists, intellectuals and leaders of many communities are strongly against the government’s decision. In order to protect the university, a ‘Telugu University Protection Committee’ was formed and embarked on indefinite relay initiations. The agitations carried out under the auspices of this committee have reached the 9th day. Telugu University was established during NTR’s regime with the aim of preserving, developing and spreading Telugu language, literature, culture and history. At present two acres of varsity campus is running in Nampally. Another campus is being run at Bachupally as part of the expansion of the varsity. The Sarkar was requested to allocate the Nampally campus for the establishment of a performing arts museum. It is reported that the government is ready for this. The government has already sought a report from the university on the same issue. Students and teachers are confused about this. They are demanding that the government withdraw these proposals. If they don’t have a place to study, will they build a museum? They are asking.

Courses at Nampally premises
The university students and teachers are expressing their grief that there are no students in the Nampally campus. They are saying that the government is under the impression that the entire university has gone to Bachupally and the Nampally campus is empty.. This is completely untrue. While the varsity is continuing in Bachupally, Nampally campus is running many types of regular courses as well as many evening courses. Regular courses like Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication, Bachelor of Design in Interior Design, Bachelor of Fashion and Textile Design, Certificate in Animation and VFX, Certificate in Photography and Video Editing, Diploma in Fine Music, Diploma in Film Courses like Direction, Diploma in Drama, Diploma in Mimicry, Diploma in Indrajalam, MA Astrology, PG Diploma in Yoga are conducted here. There is an auditorium and a museum. Graduation, convocations and meetings are held in Nampally campus.

Protest in an innovative way
Students, faculty and alumni are protesting daily to protect the varsity buildings. Agitated with dances and art forms. He protested with drum instruments on Friday. Teaching and non-teaching staff of Bachupalli campus, professors and students of Warangal Peetham expressed solidarity with the initiation.

Save the varsity
How do you think the Telugu University building in Nampally is empty? How is it handed over to private individuals? It is conceivable. Many courses are running in Nampally campus. Arts and courses are supposed to be preserved.. Allocating them to private individuals is worst. Will the varsity established with NTR’s ideas be undermined? The government should withdraw this decision. Telugu varsity should be saved.
