Hyderabad, July 25 (Namaste Telangana): BRS MLC Dasoju Shravan said that government and autonomous colleges are showing oppression in the name of fees and not giving original certificates to poor students on the pretext of court orders. Revanth Reddy’s government is running a private exploitative regime under the guise of public governance and pushing the future of students into darkness.
An announcement to this effect was released on Saturday. The government-run Nizam College, Kothi Mahila University, Arts and Science College and other autonomous and government junior colleges have called it a heinous act to put pressure on the students for fees, blocking the relief given to private colleges by the High Court. He said that it is illegal to stop students’ certificates due to non-payment of fee reimbursement arrears to be paid by the government. He reminded that according to the rules of UGC, AICTE and Council of Higher Education, original certificates of students cannot be pledged for any financial dues.
He expressed concern that thousands of students without certificates in hand are losing PG, PhD and foreign education admissions. It is illegal to withhold original certificates of students in the name of fee arrears and immediate strict orders should be issued by the education department. He said that certificates should be given regardless of fees. MLC Dasoju Shravan Kumar warned that if the government does not respond, they will take up agitations across the state under the auspices of the BRS party.
