Hyderabad, July 8 (Namaste Telangana): Boyapati Chennaiah, Training Nodal Officer of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state reiterated that the main objective of the ‘SIR’ program is to completely clean the voter list and give the right to vote to every eligible person. If your name or the names of your parents/grandparents are not there in the 2002 voter list… or if you search but can’t find it, there is no need to worry. The Booth Level Officers (BLOs) explained that you can leave the old details column blank in the door-to-door enumeration form and enter and sign only your current details.

Recently, Chennaiah has given key explanations in various media and interviews, dispelling the doubts among the voters regarding the special Mummara Amendment (SIR) process which is currently being carried out in the most prestigious way across the state. Chennaiah said that a search option has been made available on the State Chief Electoral Officer’s website (ceotelangana.nic.in) or Central Voters’ Portal (voters.eci.gov.in) to search for names in the 2002 voter list. BLVs visit each household at least three times, first to give the enumeration form, second to help fill it and third to collect the completed form. It was stated that if the house is locked when the BLOs come, they will leave the form in front of the house and come and collect it after a week.

A chance for those who are not available till 24
Chennaiah clarified that those who are not available till the 24th of this month will have a chance to register their vote. He said that those who could not submit the form to the BLOs due to work, travel or illness, after the draft list comes on July 31. If the name is missing, they will have the opportunity to apply afresh (through Form-8) before October 1. He said that BLVs are not collecting any Aadhaar or other citizenship/address documents in the current phase one. He said that only the declaration form will be taken and the ERO can be corrected along with the appropriate documents after July 31 at the notice stage to correct the differences in the spelling of the names and the age differences in the 2002 list and the current details. All the voters are advised to responsibly cooperate with the BLOs who come to their homes and protect their right to vote by filling and submitting the forms.

What about the family name?

Chennaiah clarified that if the name is wrong in the voter’s card, if the name is on the front and back, if the application is made through Form 8, it will be investigated and corrected. He said that the online form should not be downloaded and filled and given to BLO. If you do, you have to apply online or fill the form given by BLO. It has been revealed that after ‘Sir’ there will be no old voter list, new voter cards will be issued on October 1 as per the new voter list. It is mentioned that even after the completion of the ‘SIR’ process, there will be a possibility to apply for vote online and offline. According to Section 18 and 19 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, even if there are two votes in two places in the same constituency, they will be punished. The enumeration form contains a voter’s declaration, which has to be read and signed, so it is not possible to escape, so the voter is advised to fill the enumeration form only at one place.
