Have you got a clear assurance on the injustice being done to Telangana in the matter of RDS water sharing? Can you convince the AP government to permanently close the RDS dams on the Andhra side and repair the dam? Did you get an assurance from that state to repair the RDS canal in Karnataka immediately and maintain it regularly? And what will Revanth Reddy achieve in the meeting of three state CMs in Karnataka on Thursday?’ BRSLP Deputy Leader Harish Rao asked.
- Why can’t you question the AP government?
- Answer first on the share of water that Telangana should get in Krishna?
- Telangana is extremely unfair with Navali and Gundrevus
Hyderabad, June 25 (Namaste Telangana): ‘Have you got a clear assurance on the injustice being done to Telangana in the matter of RDS water sharing? Can you convince the AP government to permanently close the RDS dams on the Andhra side and repair the dam? Did you get an assurance from that state to repair the RDS canal in Karnataka immediately and maintain it regularly? And what will Revanth Reddy achieve in the meeting of three state CMs in Karnataka on Thursday?’ BRSLP Deputy Leader Harish Rao asked. He strongly criticized that the protection of Telangana’s water rights was not beneficial for Telangana with the dramas made by Revanth in the name of campaigning in Karnataka. It was stated on Thursday that Telangana will have to lose the share of water under RDS every time.
How will the 15.90 TMC of water that is supposed to come to Telangana just by changing the gates of Tungabhadra Dam? He refused to say. He said that the old gates have been functioning for 75 years, but Telangana has never received more than 5 TMC of water through RDS. He concluded that the change of Tungabhadra Dam gates has nothing to do with the share of 15.90 TMC of water that Telangana should get. Revanth Reddy was asked to tell what assurance he had achieved on this crucial matter. “Why did you accept the argument of system losses? Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal award did not recognize the principle of system losses,” he said. It was held that this argument which was not within the scope of the Tribunal award could not reduce the fair share due to us.
Why AP was not questioned?
Harish Rao decried why Revanth Reddy did not question the manner in which the AP government has been using the Krishna waters beyond the limit since one year. He criticized that the Andhra government is using 39 TMC of water at Sunkesula for the KC Canal. In addition to this, about 10 tmcs of river water, which should go to KC Canal in Kummakkai with Karnataka, is being diverted to RBHLC and RBLLC, so why did Revanth Reddy not stop even though Telangana is being extremely unfair? He asked. Why not oppose new projects that threaten Telangana’s water rights? He asked.
Telangana is unfair with both of them
Harish Rao said that the Government of Karnataka is planning to construct Navali Reservoir to use about 35 TMC between Tungabhadra Dam and RDS, and AP Government is planning to build Gundrevula Project to use 20 TMC between RDS and Sunkeshu. With those two projects, they expressed concern that extreme injustice will be done to Telangana in the Krishna waters. He denied why Revanth Reddy did not object to those two projects. Why bother with so many problems? They said that they did not understand. Has Telangana achieved its 15.90 TMC water share? He asked.
