Meenakshi Natarajan | New Delhi, June 11: The Supreme Court accepted Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan’s plea challenging the rejection of her nomination to contest the Rajya Sabha and agreed to hear her arguments. The case will be investigated on Friday. Her nomination to the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh was rejected by the election authorities. She approached the Supreme Court.
Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi made arguments before a partial working day bench comprising Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Atul S Chandurkar. The Returning Officer said it was a wrong decision to reject her nomination as she had filed an incomplete affidavit without disclosing the details of the criminal case against her under the Representation of the People Act. He added that this is a private case and the petitioner has only received summons and it is related to a case punishable within two years. The bench said that the case will be heard on Friday.
