National Dengue Day: Are you using mosquito repellents at home? Like falling into danger – PARAHUSHAR NEWS

National Dengue Day: Many people are using mosquito coils and incense sticks at home in the face of increasing mosquito-borne diseases like dengue and malaria in the country. But the latest survey revealed that these are now becoming another big health problem. Doctors warn that mosquito incenses, which are being sold without control, can cause respiratory problems.

Huge sales of illegal mosquito incense in the country

A survey conducted by market research firm Kantar on the orders of the Home Insect Control Association (HICA) revealed shocking facts. The market value of mosquito incense sticks in India is around Rs. 2,000 crores. About 85 percent of this was found to be illegal or unregulated products.

In this survey, 1,264 families and 405 doctors were contacted in 12 cities of the country. It has been found that many users are using products that are not approved by the government.

Health threat with hazardous chemicals

Although mosquito repellent is necessary according to doctors, continuous inhalation of smoke from incense sticks is dangerous. Some products may contain toxic chemicals like pyrethroids, organophosphates and heavy metals. Doctors say that these affect the airways and lead to health problems like cough, allergies, lung problems and asthma problems. Children, the elderly, and those with existing respiratory problems are particularly at risk, they warn.

Products sold without government approval

Another important thing that emerged from the survey is that many companies are selling products in the market without the permission of the government. These products have no Central Insecticides Registration (CIR) label, ingredients details are not clear, safety standards are not met. According to the report, these products are sold in the market under the names of Comfort, Sleepwell, Relax, Sun Relax, Hunting Tiger, Dengue Killer and High Power.

Most people use mosquito repellents

According to the survey, 59 percent of people said that they are using such mosquito repellents. It was revealed that half of them have been using it daily for more than three years. Experts say that the products used to protect against diseases are likely to increase respiratory risks in the future.

What are the safe ways to protect against mosquitoes?

Doctors and health experts suggest some precautions. Only products approved by the government should be used.

Incense candles should not be lit for long periods in closed rooms. It is better to use mosquito nets and mesh windows. Do not store water around the house. Products with high smoke should not be used near children. Although protection against diseases like dengue is necessary, doctors advise people to be careful about products that can be harmful to health.
