Due to changing lifestyle and food habits, the number of people suffering from uric acid problem is increasing day by day. Experts say that some natural foods available at home can help control this problem at an early stage. Many studies suggest that green papaya is one of them.

According to experts, green papaya is rich in nutrients like vitamin A, vitamin C, fiber, magnesium, calcium and enzymes like papain and chymopapain. They help in reducing the inflammation and swelling in the body and helps to flush out the excess uric acid accumulated in the blood through the urine. This is said to reduce the risk of uric acid crystals accumulating in the joints.

How to take

Boil small pieces of green papaya in two cups of water for about 15 minutes and drink warm after straining. Also, raw papaya can be eaten in the form of salad or cooked as a curry with less oil.

Other health benefits

The fiber present in green papaya helps improve the functioning of the digestive system. Apart from reducing constipation, it is also useful in weight control. Vitamin A and C in it play a vital role in increasing the body's immunity. It also helps to reduce bad cholesterol and improve blood circulation.

Who should not take it?

Raw papaya is not suitable for everyone. Experts warn that pregnant women should not take it. The latex in it is said to cause uterine contractions. Also lactating mothers, people with papaya allergy, sugar or BP medication should not take it without doctor's advice.
